Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM

Die Warmwasser-Fußbodenheizung Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM punktet durch die niedrige Aufbauhöhe.

Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM is a warm water floor heating system based on a studded panel. The patented floor assembly with innovative heating technology creates a cost-efficient, highly responsive thermal comfort floor with especially low supply temperatures.

From the start, BEKOTEC-THERM offers many advantages with its quick and easy installation. In conjunction with renewable energy sources, the energy-efficient warm water floor heating system generates maximum efficiency and comfort.

<p>Advantages of BEKOTEC-THERM</p>

  • Low energy consumption, low heating costs.

    Save energy and money

Geld und Energie sparen mit Schlüter Fußbodenheizungen!

Compared to conventional heating systems, a surface heating system only needs half the water temperature, since a small temperature difference between the heated surface and the room air is sufficient for effective heating. The water supply temperature can therefore be several degrees lower. As a result, you save approximately 2% of energy for each degree - meaning substantial savings in your heating bill.

    Cost-effective to purchase and operate

Thanks to its matching system components, the ceramic thermal comfort floor BEKOTEC-THERM is quick and easy to install, which saves time and money in construction. The system also offers many long-term advantages: Thus, the ceramic thermal comfort floor requires substantially less energy to operate than a radiator heating system, which saves hard cash, month after month.

    Sense of warmth

Because the gentle heat radiated by the surfaces is perceived as particularly pleasant, the room temperature can be set two degrees lower than in the case of conventional radiators. The heat sensation is the same, which saves energy.

Modern condensed boiler technology and Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM

The increase of energetic efficiency relies on the utilisation of latent heat contained in the water vapour of smoke gas (energy gain by partial condensation).

The water vapour is the result of burning natural gas and oil. With the use of conventional low temperature heating boilers, the heat contained in emissions gas typically is released to the environment, together with water vapour. Condensed boiler technology is able to condense the water vapour of the emissions flow in a heat exchanger and derive additional heating energy even after the combustion process.

This effect can only be utilised efficiently with low return temperatures.

The Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM ceramic thermal comfort floor improves the energy utilisation of condensed boilers with low system temperatures.

  • Low assembly height. Short construction time.

Low assembly height = little screed = short construction time

Flache Höhe: Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM passt in jedes Heizungsprojekt!

Whether restoration of existing structures or building your dream home: with its very low assembly height, Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM is a guaranteed fit for your construction project and enables short construction times - the tiles for your ceramic thermal comfort floor can be installed on the Schlüter-DITRA uncoupling mat as soon as the screed is able to bear weight.

It is hardly surprising that the BEKOTEC system is the first choice of experienced designers and developers when to comes to quick building progress!

    Save valuable time

Here is how you can benefit from our patented Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM system:

    • No waiting for the screed to cure
    • Time-consuming functional heating is unnecessary
    • Less material = shorter construction time
    • Overall, the system saves up to six weeks of construction time
    • No problems with coordination and compatibility since all components of your heating system are supplied by Schlüter-Systems

    Good to know!

Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM has been a proven success in domestic and international installations for years. The LEED certification of our new administrative building in Montreal and the platinum certification of our training centre by the the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) confirm the sustainable qualities of Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM. Objectively!

  • Perfect for restoration and modernising.

    Heating upgrades with Schlüter

The minimal assembly height of the Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM system saves approx. 70 kg of screed volume per square metre compared to conventional floor heating systems.

This extra-slim result is therefore ideally suited for restoration and modernising projects. Our ceramic thermal comfort floor can be installed from an assembly height of 20 mm to the upper edge of the screed. It is an option in cases where other floor heating systems have to be ruled out for structural reasons.

The low assembly height of Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM is also beneficial for "gentle" restoration projects - it does not have a significant effect on the ceiling height, and the system can be directly installed over existing tiles or on the screed itself.

Benefits for statics and structural substance

Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM also offers major benefits for statics and structural substance! The calculation is easy:

    • Less area weight translates into lower stresses for the statics of your building structure.
    • Less screed volume means lower moisture in the building phase.

    Good to know!

In addition to ceramic tile and natural stone coverings, you can also use other covering materials such as parquet, laminate or carpeting: Give your imagination free reign!

Schlüter-DITRA or Schlüter-DITRA-DRAIN 4 can be installed as soon as the screed is ready to bear weight, followed by the tile covering. For gypsum-based screeds, the residual moisture should be approx. 2%.

  • Quick response time.

    Faster warmth!

Because of its extremely high level of efficiency and low assembly height, the thin-layer system is able to respond faster to temperature changes than conventional systems since the heat is released near the surface of the screed layer.

That makes the ceramic thermal comfort floor ideally suited for operation with ecological, renewable heat sources such as heat pumps. As another major benefit, the system's low supply temperatures are good for the environment and your wallet even when operated with conventional heat sources.

Here is how you benefit from the patented Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM system:

    • The supply temperature of conventional radiator systems used to be 70 to 90 °C – while Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM can function at an average temperature of just 30 °C!
    • The interconnected air channels in the Schlüter-DITRA bonded uncoupling assembly distribute the air particularly quickly and evenly.
    • You can even set up energy-efficient reduced night temperatures in your BEKOTEC-THERM system.
    • Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM is the ideal partner for combination with heat pumps and solar technology, with sufficient excess energy to heat utility water for your bathroom and kitchen.
  • The absence of radiators opens up additional space.

Floor heating systems relegate bulky radiators to the past. Instead, the system works out of sight, below the floor covering. That creates more living space for you.

  • True thermal comfort.

    Thermal comfort comes from surfaces!

People perceive heat as particularly comfortable when

    • there is no draft air in the heat.
    • the temperature difference between room air and wall and ceiling surfaces is as small as possible.
    • head and feet are approximately the same temperature.

Heating systems installed in walls, ceilings or floors offer all of these benefits. Because a much larger area is heated up compared to conventional radiators, few air movements are required to distribute the heat.

At the same time, floor and walls do not have to be heated by the air. Surface heating systems can therefore function with just a few degrees of temperature difference to the room air. And, with the temperature difference so small, you will also experience pleasant effects from your floor heating system in the summer when your head stays cool.

  • Heating in the winter, cooling in the summer.

Heating and cooling in a single system

    More than you expect

Mit einer reversiblen Wärmepumpe kann BEKOTEC-THERM im Sommer zum Kühlen eingesetzt werden.

Our floor heating system relegates cold tiles on cold fall or winter days to the past. BEKOTEC-THERM is the perfect heating system to enjoy cosy warmth on cold days, while operating a convenient and cost-effective heating system. No more walking on cold tiles: enjoy warm feet even in the wintertime, with an air temperature that is ideally suited to your needs.

    Cooling in the summer

If the temperatures from May to September get excessively hot, you can also use BEKOTEC-THERM for gentle cooling by simply switching the controls to cooling operation. Our floor heating system uses the surface temperature to keep your living space pleasantly cool without major effort. The cooling systems of BEKOTEC-THERM are able to lower the room temperature by up to 3° C compared to non-cooled spaces.

The BEKOTEC-THERM product assortment includes the corresponding control technology. For example, reversible heat pumps can be used for cooling.

  • Evenly distributed heat.

Comfort can be that fast: the Schlüter-DITRA uncoupling mat comprises air channels that are located directly underneath the tiles. As a result, the heat is distributed especially evenly and effectively.

This makes Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM a quick reacting “ceramic thermal comfort floor” that can be operated with great energy efficiency at very low supply temperatures. The thin-layer screed assembly makes it possible.

Evenly distributed heat thanks to air channels

Even with larger spacing of the heating pipes, our ceramic thermal comfort floor quickly reaches the desired temperature. Keep your feet firmly planted on a cosily heated floor covering.

  • Durable.

    Smart. Safe. Durable.

Ceramic tiles and natural stone are beautiful and exclusive. Not to mention easy to care for and highly durable. They virtually show no wear and tear. Especially if they are installed over the right substrate: our patented BEKOTEC assembly creates a low-stress structure, which effectively prevents cracking and buckling.

Tiled surfaces are a great fit for everyday use: they are easy to clean, fire-proof and highly stress resistant. Even car dealerships, which handle extreme point loads, rely on our patented Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM system.

    Good reasons to install BEKOTEC-THERM:

    • Tile coverings remain beautiful and functional in the long term.
    • Floors don't develop cracks and buckling.
    • They are guaranteed to support large loads.
    • Ceramic coverings are highly sanitary.
    • Surfaces are fireproof.
  • Suitable for use with renewable energy sources

Surface heating is the way of the future.

BEKOTEC-THERM eignet sich perfekt für den Einsatz mit regenerativen Energiequellen.

The low supply temperatures of surface heating systems make them ideally suited for operation with ecological, renewable heat sources such as heat pumps or for combination with solar technology.

    Heat pumps and Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM

A triple score for the BEKOTEC ceramic thermal comfort floor! Its extremely low supply temperatures offer:

    • Reduced use of electric power to operate the heat pump
    • Improved annual output factor, and consequently, better energy utilisation over the entire heating period
    • Faster pay back
    • Permanently low operating costs

    Solar technology and Schlüter®-BEKOTEC-THERM

The annual output factor of solar systems that are integrated into heating systems increases with every degree the system temperature can be lowered. Due to the lower supply temperatures of a floor heating system, the solar system can therefore be used much longer for room heating than in the case of radiator heating. On sunny winter days, a properly designed solar system can therefore cover or support the heating system. The Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM ceramic thermal comfort floor improves the energy utilisation of solar systems.

    With several convincing results:

    • Lower supply temperatures can be used to heat floor areas.
    • The energy effectiveness increases. This leads to a higher energy usage factor over the entire heating period.
    • The payback period of the system is shorter.
    • The system complies with the requirements of the German Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV) and Energy Conservation Act (EnEG).

How does BEKOTEC-THERM work?

System assembly

BEKOTEC-THERM steht in verschiedenen Aufbauhöhen zur Verfügung.

BEKOTEC-THERM floor heating systems are based on the studded screed panel Schlüter-BEKOTEC-EN, which is available in a number of different thicknesses. The high-quality heating pipes BEKOTEC-THERM-HR are snapped between the studs, followed by the installation of conventional screed. Overall, the minimum assembly height to the upper edge of the screed ranges between 20 mm (EN 12 FK) and 52 mm (EN). As a consequence of this low height, the floor heating system operates at a low supply temperature (only 27 to 32 °C) and saves energy costs in combination with modern heating technology.

Connectable to many heating systems

Thanks to the heating circuit distributor Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM-HV/DE, the assembly can be connected to virtually any heating system. The system's low energy needs are a perfect fit for operation with renewable energy sources such as heat pumps or solar technology. When renewable energy sources are tapped, the floor heating system unfolds its entire energy-saving potential: according to a study by Dresden Technical University, the savings potential is up to 9.5% - a noticeable relief for your wallet.

Shorter construction times

The installation of Schlüter-BEKOTEC-THERM cuts down on waiting times between construction phases. The heating pipes are installed between the studs, the screed installation is minimised thanks to material savings, and the DITRA mats enable the installation of ceramic tile coverings as soon as the screed is able to bear weight. Schlüter-BEKOTEC also eliminates the time-consuming functional heating of the screed, which significantly cuts down on the waiting time for tile installation. Moreover, Schlüter-Systems offers installers a 5-year warranty for the entire assembly.
